Welcome to the embarkation point of my journey. All those so inclined are welcome to come along. Apologies – expect no fanfare departures, no ticker-tape, no POSH accommodations or butler service. The offerings are plain and simple insights into the persona of myself. There is a vague hope that said insights may reveal other, more global, truths along the way. I will endeavor to pair all offerings with accompaniments of humor, education, sappy romanticism and heart-felt belief. There are a number of excursions I will take along the way – open to any inclined to join in.
Teachings from the Furry Sensei – It has taken me by surprise how much I can learn from my faithful companion if I just listen to him.
Emotions from Romantic Notions – I have spent a lifetime hiding from my own emotions in much degree. Time to face the piper (and drum corps as appropriate).
Cultural Destinations – The places I have been and desire to go to.
Looking Back from Where I Came – Represents both an education on my perceived ancestry and a reflection on the memories that have remained with me through the years. A special motivation is the hope that this provides some insight to my Daughters as to why Dad is who he is.
Scotch – Warming the Heart and Liberating the Soul – The Scotch I have been lucky enough to enjoy and those I dream of enjoying.
Stray Threads – Random thoughts that in some measure must reveal more about me than I recognize.
The scenery should be varied – as I seek to reflect on my believed heritage from the Western Scottish Isles while exploring the beliefs and culture of other points in the world. May the seas rise to meet me and the wind stay ever at my back.
Note on image and title of blog from wikipedia: Dunyvaig Castle, (Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Naomhaig, Anglicised Fort of the galleys, also known as Dunnyveg)[1] is located on the south side of Islay, in Argyll, Scotland, on the shore of Lagavulin Bay, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from Port Ellen.[1] The castle was once a naval base of the Lord of the Isles, chiefs of Clan Donald. It was held by the chiefs of the Clan MacDonald of Dunnyveg.
MacDonald Motto: Per Mare Per Terras (By sea and land).
